EPA Lead Safe Renovation
We understand that keeping your family safe is your number one priority, and the security and safety features of our windows provide you with reliable protection. At Feldco, keeping your family safe is also at the top of our list throughout the installation process. Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children. That's why we have been the forerunner in ensuring that all of our window installations comply with the new Environmental Protection Agency standards for lead-safe renovations.To further protect consumers against these types of risk, on April 22, 2008, EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning. Under the rule (40 CFR 745.80, Subpart E), beginning April 22, 2010, all contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified for the EPA Lead-Safe Renovations and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
The EPA requires that firms performing renovation and repair MUST be certified by the EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices. Contractors must use lead-safe work practices and follow these simple procedures: contain the work area and minimize dust, and clean up thoroughly.
